Barbecued Chicken
My barbecued chicken recipe story.
Barbecued chicken can be made many different ways. I was gifted this recipe by a friend over 40 years ago. She served this to me in her home, and every once in a while I pull the recipe out and make it. You can make this chicken on the grill, in the oven, or in an air fryer. The secret to this recipe is the homemade barbecue sauce.
You can use any type of chicken you want, but bone-in pieces are easier to do and more flavorful. Children especially like to be able to hold a piece of meat by the bone and eat away.
This recipe calls for you to brown the chicken first. If you’re trying to eat healthier and with less fat, you don’t need to brown it first. You can just let it soak in the barbecue sauce for a while before you put it on the grill or in the air fryer.
Health benefits of chicken
Chicken is a healthy choice for protein and amino acids. It helps maintain bone mineral density and builds stronger muscles. Chicken also decreases the risk of injury and bone diseases like osteoporosis. This doesn’t mean we can eat as much as we want, as often as we want it. Two to six ounces of chicken per day is the recommended amount.
