Snickerdoodle Cookies

snickerdoodle cookies

Sweet memories of snickerdoodle cookies.

Where these snickerdoodle cookies got their name is beyond me. They have nothing to do with snickers candy, for sure! The name sounds like a nixy child or a fun-loving adult. Wherever the name comes from, it’s a good cookie and a good recipe.

This is an easy recipe, and gives variety to the usual chocolate chip or oatmeal cookies that are prevalent today. They’re good for a dunk in milk or just for a different flavor.

You’ll need the usual cookie ingredients, plus cream of tartar. And, for the mixture to roll the dough in, you’ll need cinnamon and sugar. Easy mix, easy bake. Yum!

Origin and Meaning

Most sources say this cookie is from German origin. It is known as a sugar cookie with cinnamon as the flavor. This cookie is a soft cookie and does not crumble too easily.

snickerdoodle cookies

This is a repost from seven years ago. As always, when I go back in and update a recipe, it gives me a hankering to make it again. Because our kids are grown and gone, I don’t normally keep cookies on hand. If I did, you can imagine who would consume them! But this is a recipe I do need to make again!

  1. Thank you. This is the second time I’ve been asked about this, and I for sure thought I corrected it, but it surely wasn’t there. 2 eggs and bake at 350. I’ve added it this time, and hopefully this time it will stay!
