Fresh Fruit Salad
Fresh Fruit
- Whether you’re fixing a fresh fruit salad for a large or a small crowd, it’s bound to be pleasing to the eye and the palet. You can mix up any type of fruit you’d like, but you’ll want fruit that has a variety of color and texture. Fresh fruit is healthier because there are no additives such as sugar or sodium…
With this fresh fruit salad, you can assemble it the evening before or the day of. I think it’s better if you put it together the day of, but sometimes time is of the essence, so do what works for you. If it’s good enough to eat as leftovers on the next day (and it is), then it’s good enough to put together the evening before.
Many folks caution using frozen fruit in a salad. We pick our own blackberries and they go into the freezer without any additives. I used frozen blackberries for this dish – added them at the last minute – and they worked fine. No mush whatsoever!
For this recipe, I used fresh fruits: cantaloupe, pineapple, strawberries, red and green grapes, blueberries, mandarin oranges – and frozen blackberries. The juice dressing is added not long before serving. You don’t need to use all the juice. Stir the fruit after adding the juice. If you add it the evening before and there is excess, just drain the liquid before serving.
