The Psalms is one of the most read books in the Bible. The book chronicles Israel’s history and God’s covenant promises. Reading through the Psalms is like reading journals of various people in many different walks of life and at various stages. There is intensity, longing, tears, cries for mercy, pleas for protection, and recounting joys as well as sorrow.

The Psalms gives us a picture of Who God is. His character and attributes are portrayed in those pages. Don’t miss the beauty of the pictures of God when you read those chronicles. Dig deep for more than a glimpse of God.

Take a day, or a week, or a month – or longer – and find a glimpse of God in the Psalms. Record His attributes and praise Him for Who He truly is.

A quick A to Z glimpse

To get started, find the attributes listed in the Psalms listed below. I’ve recorded the Attribute and the chapter in Psalms where you can find its description. Various versions and translations can be used, but note that some of the words might be different depending on which one you use. For this exercise, I used NKJV and ESV. You can make your own list from your favorite translation.

There are many choices of attributes and I chose only one. Make your own list and find as many additional attributes in the Psalms. It’s a wonderful exercise and it will help you grow in your understanding of the God we serve. The important thing is that you find God and understand Who He is. When you find God, it will change the way you view Him.

Jeremiah 29:13 says: “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”

Before you find, you have to seek. Go ahead. Seek! I promise you that you will find!
