Homemade Trail Mix

Homemade trail mix saves the day.

When I need a quick food boost or feel like nibbling, I tend to go to whatever is easiest. Sometimes that’s good, and sometimes it’s not so good. My daughter Sarah Beth came up with her own trail mix (to make it what she likes and to decrease cost). She only uses four ingredients, but it’s not a rigid rule.

You can make your own trail mix. Use ingredients you like (and aren’t allergic to!) and then mix them up. I’m not a fan of walnuts because they are so dry, but they might be your favorite nut.
I’m sharing her recipe here with options for additional ingredients that work for me. There’s no point in putting something together with ingredients you don’t like, because you won’t be digging into it often.
I like having a small scoop in my container so I can just reach in and scoop a handful into a small dish to nibble on. It’s amazing how a small amount can fill you up and give you a boost.
What is also amazing is that most kiddos will want some of this if it’s on the counter and within easy reach. Don’t let them down!

The recipe.
