My pleasure

“My Pleasure”

The feeling of “My Pleasure!”

I first heard the term “My pleasure!” in a public setting in Atlanta. We were eating at a Chick-fil-A. My son kept returning to the counter to ask for small things: a napkin, more ketchup, a refill on drink.

“Why do you keep going and asking for little things?” I asked.

“Because I love to hear them say, “My pleasure.”

The staff of Chick-fil-A are trained to respond to each customer who thanks them. Instead of saying, “You’re welcome,” they are taught to say these words: “My pleasure.”

Now-a-days when I’m talking to Siri on my phone, I smile when Siri finds my phone and I say, “I found it; thank you!” because sometimes Siri replies, “My pleasure.”

The feeling we get from “You’re welcome” is completely different than the warmth we get from “my pleasure.”  These words leave me feeling safe and hugged.

It is His pleasure to give good gifts

Scripture says that at His right hand there are pleasures forevermore. It is the Father’s good pleasure to have all the fullness dwell in Christ. Scripture also tells us that He works in us to “will and do of His good pleasure.”

He delights in giving us what we need. Whether we’re asking for ketchup,  a napkin, or to help in finding a phone, He delights to give us what we need.

Scripture also assures us that every good and perfect gift is from above and comes from the Father. He delights in giving us good things.

What He says when we say Thanks

In the stormy nights, we thank Him for being our Rock. He replies, “My pleasure.”

When healing doesn’t come, but faith is stronger, we recognize the growth and stability and say thanks. He responds, “My pleasure.”

When relationships are cracked and hope is frayed, we feel His presence and know we are not alone. We says thanks and He replies, “My pleasure.”

Every good and perfect gift is from Him – and is given with His pleasure. The next time you talk to God and thank Him for what He has done, imagine His smile when He says, “My child, it is My pleasure.”
