Hamburger Stroganoff
Comfort food
This hamburger stroganoff is an easy dish that is tasty and comforting. You will most likely have these ingredients in your kitchen. When you fry up more hamburger than you need for another dish, save the rest for this dish. It saves you time and energy because you fry once and wash dishes once for two meals.
I like to make my own cream of mushroom soup, but I do sometimes used canned soups. For a recipe for homemade cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup, go to this link. Homemade has a lot less sodium and is generally healthier.
Something else that makes your hamburger stroganoff dish healthier is when you use homemade beef broth instead of bouillon. To make your own broth, you can save broth from a roast, or can your own beef, which makes a good broth.
I serve a light vegetable or salad with this dish. I’ve also learned that, when you’re making your white sauce, you can add less flour. Stir it a little longer (on low) and give it time to thicken on its own. It does.
You can mix the noodles with the hamburger stroganoff. Or, you can serve it on the side and let folks top the noodles on their own.
