Miriam's Chocolate Chip Squares

A quick, simple, and easy recipe for chocolate chip squares. Confectioner's sugar is optional. Make a double batch and freeze some!

- 1 cup light OR dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter + 1 egg soften butter
- 1/2 cup sour milk
- 2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar optional
Preheat oven to 350
Beat sugar, butter, and eggs together
Stir in sour milk
Add flour, baking soda, and salt
Fold in chocolate chips
Bake in a 15 x 10 x 1 inch pan for approximately 20 minutes
Cool and cut into squares
Optional: while still warm, cut into squares and roll in confectioners sugar
