Homemade Cheese Sauce

Homemade cheese sauce beats store bought packets every time. A great addition to make a meal more kid-friendly.
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1-2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Onion powder, optional
  • Garlic powder, optional
  1. On medium heat, melt butter in a saucepan
  2. Add onion and/or garlic powder (optional)
  3. Add flour slowly, stirring until the mixture is smooth
  4. Add milk, ½ cup at a time, stirring each time until sauce thickens
  5. Add salt and pepper to taste
  6. Add shredded cheese, ½ cup at a time, stirring into mixture
  7. Continue stirring, OR remove from heat and put lid on saucepan until cheese melts
  8. Serve over vegetables or as a dip for steamed vegetables
