Homemade Sandwich Rolls

This sandwich roll recipe is an easy one to make for sandwiches or just for an easy dinner roll. It uses basic bread ingredients.
  • 1 cup oil
  • 3 cups lukewarm water
  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons yeast
  • 1 Tablespoon salt
  • 8½ - 9 cups bread flour (add 1 cup whole wheat as desired)
  1. Dissolve yeast in water (110-115 degrees)
  2. Mix sugar, oil, salt and water together well
  3. Add flour, one or more cups at a time
  4. Place in well-oiled pan and turn dough until all sides have been oiled
  5. Let rise until double
  6. Punch down and let rise again
  7. Divide dough into equal parts and shape by hand
  8. OR roll dough out until it is flat and then cut with biscuit cutter
  9. Place on greased baking sheet, leaving space between each roll so they will spread to the side
  10. Using the bottom of a glass, press down on the top of each roll to flatten it
  11. Let rise until double
  12. Bake at 350-375 for 20+ minutes or until done
  13. Brush tops with melted butter OR vegetable oil
  14. Using a serrated knife, slice each roll to open
