Oatmeal with raisin and a few spices are great for autumn baking - but they're good any time of the year with a glass of milk!
Ingredients
  • 2 cups shortening (I use butter)
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 5½ cups minute oatmeal (I use regular unless I have minute oatmeal)
  • 2½ tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4¼ cups flour
  • 1 cup raisins (or more) - and I use a lot more!
  • 1 cup nuts (optional)
  • Cinnamon (optional) I use 1 tsp.
Instructions
  1. Cream shortening and sugars together
  2. Add eggs. Mix well.
  3. Add dry ingredients, then stir in raisins.
  4. Drop on greased cookie sheets.
  5. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes
